Meet Jocelyn Carter MD,MPH Internal Medicine!

Posted by:

Dr. Jocelyn Carter is originally from the South Suburbs of Chicago, Illinois area, and has been in Massachusetts for 5 years.  Internal medicine was not Dr. Carter’s first career choice.  She initially thought she wanted to practice Law because of the “Clair Huxtable” character from the Cosby show because she wanted to be just like her.  But she had a phenomenal biology teacher that caused her to fall in love with biology and challenged her with animal dissections every week; Dr. Carter says “I then settled on becoming a doctor”. Dr. Jocelyn, who’s hobbies are Reading,(a book she’s reading now is titled Other Colors by Orphan Pamuk) running, travelling, going to concerts, playing the cello; belongs to several different organizations: Harvard Club of Boston, Society of General Internal Medicine, American Medical Association, American Public Health Association, American College of Preventive Medicine, Harvard Alumni Association, Massachusetts Medical Society, and American College of Physicians. Dr. Carter has  received many awards for Excellence in Teaching Award from Department of Internal Medicine & Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. She also received the Best Abstract Submission award from American College of Preventive Medicine.  As well as Duncan Neuhauser award for Academy for Healthcare Improvement.  Dr. Carter has been recognized by NIDDK STEP-UP & The 50 Most Influential People of Color in Healthcare & Life Sciences from Partners Healthcare.  Her favorite holiday is coming up; Christmas  because of the food and festivities with family- and she loves the length of the holiday season. But I would imagine she’ll make her famous Pound cake or Olive Oil Cake!
